Decision Tree
I have been quite curious about decisions lately
trying to improve my decisions by keeping a journal
(and sharing with you some I made along the way)
on average, a human makes 35,000 decisions a day
our life is a series of decisions
many of those decisions are not that consequential
eating eggs or oatmeal in the morning for instance
not that big of a deal
deciding to marry that girl
that's a big deal
this reminds me with a small illustration I made in a challenge
(one of the only ones I ever completed)
to make some thing creative for 50 days
this was the entry from day 31
if the spectrum of possibility is between
who you could be represents your full potential in the truest form
as good decisions (gd) goes to infinity
and on the other side of the number line,
as one spirals in negative and bad decisions
as (bd) goes to infinity
you can end up in the worst potentially possible position
these are hypotheticals, we are somewhere in the middle
but if you somehow reprogram yourself to
to optimize for who you could be (cb)
stacking good decisions
one after the other
you’d be unstoppable
and it won’t just be impactful to you
but to those around you
Butterfly Effect
startups are made of thousands of decisions too
the better startups are making better decisions…
a couple of weeks ago I told you that I made a decision
and I didn't know whether it was right or wrong
I told you I told both the two cofounders I had
that we shouldn’t work with each other anymore
for two different reasons, but the outcome was the same
I introduced them to each other
and one of them was a friend for years
but guess what?
they teamed up against me
they had access to our Figma and took my designs
dirty move…
felt disappointed at this low blow ngl
but I understand where it’s coming from
I discovered it by chance,
and removed both of them from the figma
(took me long, I didn’t see it coming)
now, this was a consequence of a series of decisions I made (summarized):
reaching out to friend Y
convincing him to join the team
discussing ideas with him, made me remember person A
he was working on something similar, so I got him involved
applied to YC
working together and applying made me feel we aren’t a good fit
realizing one of them wasn’t a good fit and dropping him
realizing the second wasn’t also a good fit and dropping him
I might have made a series of bad decisions…
or mediocre ones…
or perhaps great ones?
but regardless
each one of them carries a propagation value
like karmic values, following the action
some sort of a butterfly effect
the end result of which
led those two to team up against Tribbel
and led me to lose a friend
(I know they won’t win… and I’m willing to fight till the last breath)
Updates
We are weeks away from our release of Tribbel
and it is looking better than it has ever looked
some hiccups here and there,
(including an engineer deleting our users database x2)
but we are finally making some real progress
excited to share with you more soon
P.S: a new video will be out this week, continuing the series where we left off
You're doing your best and that's perfect <3
